Clinica Family Health & Wellness Relocates Acute Care Services to Louisville

New, modern facility at 1107 W. Century Dr. offers a central location, room to grow, and a welcoming space for crisis care

Louisville, Colo., August 28, 2025 — Clinica Family Health & Wellness announced today that its Acute Care Services will relocate from Boulder to a newly renovated facility in Louisville this fall. The move to 1107 W. Century Drive provides a more central location for the region, increased accessibility, and space to expand services as community needs grow.

The Louisville facility will continue to provide the full range of services currently offered at the Boulder site, including 24/7 walk-in crisis care, withdrawal management, urgent psychiatric services, and acute behavioral health support. What makes this transition significant is the environment: the new site is modern, welcoming, and thoughtfully designed to support people in crisis.

The relocation also reflects years of planning and commitment carried forward through Clinica’s merger with Mental Health Partners. Jen Leosz, Chief Integrated Health Officer and former co-CEO of Mental Health Partners, explained that the project has long been a priority.

This move has been in the works for more than two years, even before the merger that created Clinica Family Health & Wellness,” said Leosz. “Making it a reality now as Clinica demonstrates our continued dedication to mental health and substance use services — and to the belief that truly healthy communities focus on the whole person.”

She added that the timing of the move underscores both urgency and opportunity:

This move comes at a time when mental health and safety net services are facing unprecedented challenges. Having a dedicated, welcoming place for individuals in crisis to go means we can provide the right care, in the right environment, at the right time.”

The building purchase was made possible, in part, through $5 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds, dedicated to strengthening community health infrastructure. Renovations and programming are being supported by $500,000 from the Colorado Opioid Abatement Council’s Opioid Infrastructure Grant, ensuring expanded capacity for opioid treatment and substance use services.

Boulder County Commissioner Claire Levy emphasized that the project represents not just a new facility, but a collective investment in regional well-being.

Boulder County is excited to continue our longstanding partnership with Clinica Family Health & Wellness, which delivers essential integrated physical, dental, and behavioral healthcare to so many people in our community. As members of the Boulder County Opioid Regional Council, we welcomed the opportunity to partner with Clinica and Broomfield County to apply for the Opioid Infrastructure Grant, which helps fund this project. On behalf of all the partners, we extend our gratitude to the Colorado Opioid Abatement Council for this $500,000 grant. This regional investment, specifically in the area of opioid treatment, will have a significant impact on our community by strengthening mental health and substance use services.”

Adding the perspective of city leadership, Kurt Firnhaber, Director of Housing and Human Services for the City of Boulder, noted that the project builds on a shared history of collaboration.

The City of Boulder has a long-standing partnership with Clinica and we’re excited for the opportunity for them to provide this continuum of care in one place,” said Firnhaber. "People have a variety of mental health and substance use needs that are best addressed by the breadth of services proposed at this new facility.”

The new location was strategically chosen for its centrality, accessibility along major transportation routes, and proximity to regional partners in public health, law enforcement, and healthcare.

From Broomfield’s vantage point, Jason Vahling, Broomfield Public Health and Environment Director, highlighted how the Center responds directly to local priorities.

Addressing behavioral health has been a top priority for Broomfield residents since 2019,” said Vahling. “While the City and County of Broomfield has made great strides in reducing stigma and combating the opioid crisis, this Center will provide residents with much needed access to a broad spectrum of behavioral health services, including more intensive care.”

In Louisville, where the new facility is preparing to open, Chief of Police Rafael Gutierrez highlighted how collaboration helps strengthen community well-being.

The Louisville Police Department works to support a productive partnership with Clinica to ensure that safety protocols are in place and that community members can access needed services without disruption,” stated Gutierrez. “Our priority is the well-being of the community, and we will continue to coordinate closely to support both public safety and timely access to crisis services.”

The project meaningfully demonstrates a shared regional commitment to reducing stigma, strengthening behavioral health services, and ensuring that anyone experiencing a crisis has the necessary access to compassionate, professional care.

Simon Smith, President & CEO of Clinica, added that the move also represents an investment in the future of care delivery.

The need for community support in this area continues to grow. Our new facility will provide a calm, welcoming space for people in crisis, while also giving us the room to evolve and adapt as our communities’ needs change over time. It’s a space built for both today’s challenges and tomorrow’s possibilities.”

Community engagement opportunities are being developed. Communication on these will be forthcoming.
