ACCESSIBILITY

Our commitment to accessibility

At Clinica Family Health & Wellness, we seek to support our community by guiding each client on their individual health and wellness journey. We are committed to a vision of providing high quality care to all patients throughout our region, which includes ensuring that our services and resources are accessible to all individuals.

Our Accessibility Statement

Last updated: August 1, 2024

Ensuring an Inclusive Experience

Our core values of Healing Environment, Empathy, Hope, Wellness, Teamwork, Partnership, and Excellence help guide our commitment to accessibility. We strive to create an inclusive and welcoming environment where everyone feels accepted, supported, and empowered.

This commitment extends to our holistic care, communication forms, physical locations, and digital presence. Our goal is to make our services, information, and resources accessible for all. While your own health and the health of your loved ones can be challenging to navigate, we believe accessing quality healthcare should be straightforward, simple, and equitable.

Communication and Support

Our staff is trained to assist individuals with diverse needs, providing information and services in an accessible way. We are committed to ensuring that everyone receives the support they need by offering interpretation services, translation services, sign language interpretation, and other accommodations.

In addition to in-person support, we offer alternative ways to contact us - including by phone, email, and text services. We are dedicated to responding to all inquiries promptly and effectively.

Physical Accessibility

All our facilities are equipped with accessible entrances, restrooms, and meeting spaces to ensure that everyone can access our services comfortably.

Digital Accessibility

We invest considerable resources designing and maintaining our website to comply with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA success criteria – a standard of accessibility which is widely recognized as best practice to adhere to by accessibility experts. Yet we recognize there is always more that can be done beyond this criterion, and so we aim to meet Level AAA conformance where achievable. (Learn more about WCAG levels and conformance.)

For example, some accessibility features you will find on this website include:

  • Navigation. Our website is designed with accessible navigation features, including clear menus and consistent page layouts.

  • Text Alternatives. We provide text alternatives for non-text content such as images and videos, ensuring the information is accessible to screen readers and other assistive technologies.

  • Color Contrast. We prioritize sufficient color contrast between text and background to make it easier for users with varying needs (visual impairments, neurodiverse, cognitive disabilities, etc.) to read content. We do this by striving to meet or exceed the WCAG 2.2 AA color contrast standards (3:1 for text over 18 points, and 4:5:1 for smaller text).

  • Keyboard Navigation. Our website can be navigated using a keyboard, without requiring a mouse, making it accessible to users who rely on keyboard navigation.

  • Language Access. All content on our website can be translated into 14 different languages using the “Select Language” drop down menu in the top left corner of each page.

Measures Taken to Ensure Accessibility

To inform development and continuous improvement of this website, we conducted user testing with the express purpose of ensuring our website meets the needs of all users. This testing process involved individuals with various disabilities, providing us with valuable feedback we acted upon to improve accessibility. We continually update our site based on these insights to further enhance the user experience.
