Lafayette Art & Gift Sale To Highlight the Power of Healing Through Art

Mental Health Partners and Lafayette Public Library are partnering to help support local artists and promote mental health awareness

LAFAYETTE, Colo., November 15, 2023 – Mental Health Partners (MHP) and the Lafayette Public Library are partnering to host the Mental Health Partners Client Art & Gift Sale. This event is open to the public and aims to showcase the incredible talent of MHP client artists while supporting their individual wellness journeys. The sale will feature a wide array of unique and beautiful art pieces, including paintings, notecards, baby quilts, jewelry, keychains, music CDs, and much more.

MHP clients, who have poured their hearts and souls into creating these remarkable works of art, will retain 100% of their sales. By purchasing these one-of-a-kind pieces, attendees can not only find the perfect holiday gifts but also contribute to the empowerment and independence of these talented individuals.

"We are so proud of our client artists and their achievements,” said MHP’s General Manager of Child & Adolescent Outpatient and School Based Services in Boulder, Chris DeMarco, MA, LPC, ATR. “Art is a powerful way to express ourselves and work through life’s experiences and emotions. It can also provide clients with purpose and wholeness beyond their symptoms or diagnosis. By sharing and selling their art, it goes one step further to validate the artist’s talent and can be a means of independence.”

The Art & Gift Sale will take place on Sunday, December 3rd, from 2-4pm at the Lafayette Library in the lower-level meeting room. This event provides an excellent opportunity for the community to come together and support local artists while raising awareness and reducing mental health stigma. Cash or check payments are preferred.

To add to the festive atmosphere, light refreshments will be served during the sale, and attendees can browse as they enjoy live music. This promises to be an afternoon filled with creativity, community spirit, and the joy of supporting local artists.

“We are pleased to partner with Mental Health Partners for this special event," said Melissa Hisel Director of Lafayette Public Library. "This event highlights the importance of mental health and the therapeutic power of art.”

In addition to the sale, the Lafayette Library will be hosting an exhibition of MHP client art on the Upper North Gallery from December 3rd through January 2nd. This exhibition provides an extended opportunity for the public to appreciate and admire the artistic expressions of MHP clients.

As one client artist expressed: “Art makes me happy, takes my mind off my problems, and I can get creative.”
